How Often Should I Clean Out My Roof Gutters?
There is no one good answer, every house is different and every house is in a different area…..
If your home has no trees around it chances are you may only require a gutter clean out once every 2-3 years to remove roof granule/dirt build up and debris from wind blown leaves.
If you have trees nearby or overhanging your roof you may need to clean them 2-4 times a year. Leaves drop in autumn, seeds/acorns from trees can fall at different times of the year, wind storms/hail can blow leaves off of trees at anytime. You need to be vigilant in maintaining your gutter cleaning, according to the environment you live in.
A good rule of thumb is, especially during storm season (September to February), a regular check of build up in your gutters is recommended. Heavy rain or prolonged rain can very quickly turn your un-cleaned gutters into a major cause of internal water damage.
